What is this?
Fish oils are high in long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids known as omega 3s, these cannot be made by the body and must be eaten. Two of these fatty acids EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) play an important role in brain function and cardiovascular health.
Fish oils can easily go off when exposed to heat or sunlight, if you have experienced very fishy tasting oil or nasty burps the it was likely to be rancid. Puori have cleverly designed the capsules in the form of dark soft gels, stored in an opaque bottle to protect them from oxidation, they also have a pleasant fresh lemon taste, we recommend storing them in the fridge.
Your brain is 60% fat and Omega 3s are a key component of healthy cell and nerve membranes. The amount of EPA and DHA inside brain cell membranes directly affects neurotransmitter synthesis, signal transmission and serotonin uptake. Oxford University have even linked higher levels of omega 3s, to increased reading ability and memory in a study of 500 children.
